Survey launched in response to OCDSB proposing Colonel By Secondary School as a closure option - www.bhnca.com/survey

Recently the OCDSB (Ottawa-Carleton District School Board) came back with their options for closure. Three of Five options proposed mentioned the closure of Colonel By S.S. Even thought the ARC (Accommodation Review Committee) continues to hold meetings to discuss the closure options, the feeling is that people are only becoming aware that closure of Colonel By S.S. is a distinct possibility.

"We are not crying wolf, this is a serious possibly" says Tim Tierney, President of the BHNCA (Beacon Hill North Community Association). Tierney continues to say "Closing a successful school does not make any sense and this survey will help the school board see closing a school does not necessarily mean the students will stay in the OCSDB with so many neighbourhood options."

The BHNCA is hosting an online survey for all parents of Colonel By S.S. students (not those just within Beacon Hill). This survey located at www.bhnca.com/survey asks the hard questions in the event Colonel By S.S. is selected as the school to close.

This survey is for ALL PARENTS that have had, plan to have or currently have students attending Colonel By. BHNCA is hosting the survey, but this is extended to ALL PARENTS regardless if you live in or outside of the Beacon Hill area. The survey contains seven questions that will help us best determine what parents are thinking in the event Colonel By faces closure.

The results of the survey will be released at the BHNCA public meeting on April 1st 2009 at Colonel By S.S. at 7pm.
